What Does a New Asphalt Driveway Cost in Erie?
The honest answer is that it depends, but here is what actually moves the number, and the range most Erie-area driveways fall into.

What you're really paying for
Most of the cost is square footage and the stone base underneath. A bigger driveway uses more material and more crew time, so it costs more. That part is obvious. What people don't expect is how much the base matters. Around Erie the freeze-thaw is hard on pavement, and a driveway built on a thin or poorly compacted base cracks up fast no matter how good the asphalt looks the day it goes down. We'd rather build the base right than come back in three years.
After that, the price moves with the details. Do we have to tear out and haul away an old driveway first? Is the ground sloped or does it need regrading so water drains off instead of sitting? Is there a soft spot that has to be dug out and rebuilt? Can a dump truck and paver actually get to the site, or is access tight? None of these are add-ons we invent. Anyone who quotes you a firm price over the phone without seeing the property is guessing, and their guess usually gets corrected upward once they show up.
