Asphalt Driveway Paving in Erie, PA
Your driveway is the first thing people see. We build ones that drain properly and hold up — starting with what's under the asphalt.
New Driveways Built From the Base Up
Driveways are the biggest share of what we do. Roads Paving installs new asphalt driveways for homes across Erie and Erie County — whether that's a straightforward two-car driveway, a long rural lane, or a gravel drive that's finally ready to become asphalt. Our process starts the same way every time: get the foundation right first.
We grade and level the site to create a stable, well-draining base, compact a proper stone foundation, then install hot-mix asphalt for a clean, even finish built to handle daily traffic and Erie's freeze-thaw winters. It's a small crew on-site for most of these jobs, and the same crew that quotes it is the one that paves it.
What Your Estimate Includes
- An on-site walkthrough — not a satellite-photo guess
- A written, itemized scope: prep, base work, and thickness
- An honest recommendation between repair, milling, and full replacement
- Options for aprons, turnarounds, and parking pads
Keeping It Looking Good After
A new driveway is also the start of a maintenance schedule, not the end of one. Most of our repeat customers come back for sealcoating a year or two after installation, and for crack filling as the surface ages — both are cheap compared to a repave.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long before I can drive on a new asphalt driveway?
New asphalt needs a few days to firm up before regular driving, and several weeks to fully cure. We'll give you specific timing on paving day, including avoiding sharp wheel turns while parked during the curing period.
Do you remove the old driveway first?
Depends on condition — if the base is sound we can sometimes mill and repave over it; if the base has failed we rebuild from the stone base up. We'll tell you honestly which one applies.
Do you pave gravel driveways too?
Yes. Converting gravel to asphalt is regular work for us, starting with grading and a compacted stone base before any asphalt goes down.
